5/12/2026: AI Responder Defaults, Free SMS Replies & Smarter Engagement

We’re rolling out several updates focused on improving customer engagement, reducing response costs, and simplifying engagement for your organization.

🤖 AI Responder Now Enabled by Default

All organizations will now automatically receive a pre-configured AI responder agent during setup.

Previously, AI agents had to be manually created and enabled. Moving forward:

  • A default AI agent will automatically be created for all accounts
  • The default agent will use the standard “Jackie” configuration
  • AI responses will be enabled by default on all newly created campaigns and outbound messages
  • Basic settings will be pre-configured automatically

The default configuration includes:

  • General question handling
  • Basic conversational responses
  • AI enabled and ready to use immediately

Advanced functionality such as:

  • Booking links
  • Appointment scheduling
  • Custom prompts
  • Specialized workflows

will still require manual configuration by the user.

Important Notes

  • Existing in-flight campaigns will NOT be modified automatically
  • AI will only apply to newly created campaigns/messages moving forward

💬 Updated AI Message Signature

AI-assisted conversations will now include an updated disclosure line on the first outbound AI message only.

The new format will identify the responder as a virtual agent associated with the business.

This disclosure:

  • Only appears once at the start of the conversation
  • Will not repeat on future messages
  • Helps create transparency while keeping conversations natural

💸 Free SMS Replies

We’re introducing free standard SMS replies for both AI-assisted and human-authored responses.

The following replies will now be free:

  • 300 characters or less
  • No emojis included

This applies to:

  • Jackie AI assisted responses
  • Human-authored replies from users

Messages That Still Consume Credits

Messages will continue using normal credit pricing if they:

  • Exceed 300 characters
  • Include emojis

This gives teams more flexibility for day-to-day conversations with short, conversational messaging styles that align better with carrier best practices.

🔔 SMS & Product Alerts Enabled by Default

SMS alerts and product alerts will now automatically be enabled for all users by default.

A new setting has been added to the User Profile screen where users can:

  • Enable or disable alerts
  • Manage notification preferences directly

Existing users included in the rollout will also have these alerts enabled automatically.

⚠️ Rollout Notes

  • Existing campaigns already in-flight will remain unchanged
  • AI-generated replies are expected to remain within free-message thresholds under normal usage
